Socks

Last March I attended MOPACA with two friends, Christine and Teri.  We had a wonderful time buying fiber and yarn.  Finally was able to meet the nice ladies at JWrayCo from Nevada, MO.  Their yarn is wonderful, the fiber looked great.  I bought from them some sock yarn in wonderful blues.  See..

JWrayCo Socks

I knit using my regular pattern 2Sox2Circs.  Knitting and knitting, I decided to see how long they were, tried them on and decided I should get a few rows of ribbing.  These wonderful socks were knit with one skein of yarn!  Love them, the feel and color, too!

My spinning has been improving.  I'm working on a long project, spinning fingering weight wool to make a button vest for my husband.  It will be a while....

New Post Coming...

It's about time for me to let you know I am alive and well.  I've been knitting and spinning, but not much to show.  And, nothing to talk about.

Might even have a picture or two soon.

Spinning for Socks

Wool for Socks

This what I spun from 8 3/4 ounces of wool fiber I bought last May in Sedalia, MO.  I spun little singles and then did a chain-ply.  The bottom cake was completed first, it has 134 grams about 282 yards.  The top cake is spun and plied finer, it weighs 92 grams about 259 yards.  I hope to make lounging socks for my husband.  He chose this fiber and two other packages about 8+ ounces in another blue, turquoise color for a vest.

Next on the wheel will be some Shetland fiber in natural colors, one is cream, the other a medium gray.  Hoping to use the yarn for two-color knitting, maybe a hat or pair of socks.

Knitting

DIL's February Lady Sweater is done except for weaving ends.  Guess I should spend an afternoon finishing.  Then sew on the beautiful buttons my husband found.

Socks

Finished a black pair for my husband.  However, I cannot find one mate.  It is somewhere between the RV, my knitting nest and my fiber room.

A pair of Jojoland Melody in green and purple, stockinette stitch.

Finished my Chocolate Monkeys from Knitpicks Gloss in cocoa.

Working on a pair of February Lady Socks to match my sweater from Knitpicks Essential Kettle Dyed in Spruce.  They are almost completed.

Stockinette socks for my husband with Fiesta Ballet, Taos colorway.

Working on another pair for a gift.

Sweater

Frogged the cormo natural gray/brown sweater I knit.  It did not fit and I decided I did not like the style.  Now I need to find another pattern for fingering yarn.  I'd like a cardigan, boxy jacket.  Any ideas?

More Hats

Another_hat

Artsy picture of the Biodynamic Hat I knit for my husband.  He wanted colors like Nanette used in her pattern.  We came close with KnitPicks Swish.  This is the first time I've knit with Swish.  I like it a lot and would like to make a stranded color sweater for myself with it.  Just have to choose the pattern and colors.

Proof of Two

I planned to knit two of the red, white and blue hats.  For both hats I used only one skein Cascade 220 of each color.  Might even be able to get a third hat by changing the color order.  Hope my son and his friend like these hats.  I loved knitting them.

Proof_of_two

Continue knitting on DILs February Lady Sweater this week.  I guess I kinda got excited by the hat pattern.  Not much spinning on the red wool, either.

A Hat

.... a wonderful new hat pattern from Nanette Blanchard.  I love the items she designs.

Biodynamic_hat_3

I'd been saving some Cascade 220 for a hat for my son.  When I saw this Biodynamic Hat pattern, I had to buy it, Right NOW!  It took less than a day to knit.  I love the braided trim and it's so easy.  I've already cast on for a second for my son's friend.

There is another February Lady on the needles.  This time it is for my DIL in lilac.  My husband and I found some buttons on Saturday.  I will begin the gull lace pattern when this post is saved.

Spinning

Twinkle_2

This is 50-50 merino/bamboo from FatCatKnits called Twinkle.  It is a 2-ply yarn.  I will need to order more fiber from Ginny, soon.

Red_wool

I'm trying my best to make the 100% wool into 2-ply laceweight yarn.  This is the first bobbin of singles.  I have 8 ounces of fiber from Karen Poulakos Fiber Arts Studio (no website--located in Springfield, IL) that I bought at the Fiber Fair in Sedalia at the end of May.  Dreammy... and I've always wanted to knit a red shawl for myself.

Knit fast.. treadle slowly.
