No Time for Knitting

Oh, well. Some days are like that! I worked through lunch, grabbed a quick bite and kept on working. Errands after work, I'm ready for a knitting weekend.

Good news, one is coming. My husband has a meeting half way across the state on Saturday. Remember, he drives .. I knit! Better get a project in gear. I do have socks in progress and the new Opal.

I took a couple of pictures of my Kashmir parts. So much for locking myself in the sewing room and assembling sweaters this weekend.

Superbowl

I'm hoping for a good game on Sunday evening. Since the Chiefs are not playing, I want the Patriots to win. I have good reason -- my friend Rick Lyle plays for them.

Have a good, safe and productive weekend.

Some Assembly Required

The 5 purl rows went quickly this evening. I will not attempt assembly until I have unbroken, undisturbed HOURS to devote. Also, did not get a picture taken. I wish I had a few more hours each evening...

I'm kinda stalled on my next project. Don't know if I should order yarn for Marina or design and knit a vest for my husband from Icelandic yarn we bought on vacation last year. I'd like to order some ebony/rosewood needles, too. I have many items to block and assemble. I would really like to take a cue from Wendy and finish as I go and when the knitting is completed. I need more undisturbed time to concentrate on finishing, so, I just start swatching or designing or planning the next project. How un-disciplined of me!

And, the new Opal Magic is calling me -- I already have socks on the needles and in my carry sack for lunchtime knitting. (As if I ever have much time to knit at lunch.)

Five Purl Rows

WOW, I got more knitting than expected done tonight. I have only 5 purls rows to do... then I will be completed with the second Kashmir sleeve. Assembly and neck knitting next! I did not take a picture, I must get to bed right now.

Work was very, very busy today. Seems that those of us that work outside the home have had many work related comments lately. Please convince me work makes the world go around and the money to buy more yarn and supplies.

Over the weekend, I plotted Marina pattern chart on my computer. The stitch counts and yarn quantities need to be calculated and charted, too. Then I make the order; then wait. . . .

While I am waiting: 1) I have more blog design updates to add; 2) sweaters to assemble; 3) I bought supplies to make a blocking board and am looking forward to getting it put together to block my sweaters.

No rest for this knitter. Have a good day.

Oh, Happy Day

Friday was a happy day. I got a small package from Threadbear. Rob kindly agreed that one of the new Opal Magic yarns WAS turquoise. I ordered a turquoise for me and orange for my husband. I'll be knitting socks soon.

This has been a very busy weekend, not very much knitting. I did knit a few more rows on Kashmir. I'm beginning to sound like Jerry and his Son of Aran sweater, only a few rows a week.

Hope your Monday is good.

O, Heaven

Knitting on Kashmir again. It is wonderful to work with soft wools on a two-color pattern. I enjoyed knitting the red sweater for my granddaughter, but I'm with a lot of others.... cotton is not the easiest yarn to knit. And I missed the colors and pattern emerging. I've knit a little less than half the sleeve length, I only added 14 rows tonight.

Work has been very stressful this week and really since the holidays, my workload has been about as bad as it was during August through November last year. I'd rather knit all day and all night and enjoy life.

New Book

Thanks to the tip on Wendy's blog comments, I ordered Woolcraft edited by Liz Bloor. Now I have Marina!

I wish some of the coveted patterns would be available for a reasonable price or reprinted.

Two workdays until the weekend.... happy knitting.

Birthday Gift

I finished the Red Sweater this evening. I like the way it turned out. Our granddaughter was so busy with her guests tonight, she did not model her sweater. I'm sure I will get a report in a couple of days.

I am really pleased with this sweater. This is the first time I have knit with two different types of yarns held together.

Have a good middle of the week.

Not Quite....

I worked as hard as I could tonight to complete the Red Sweater in time for a picture. Didn't get it done, I need to crochet an edge for the neck and tie and weave the ends. I will take pictures tomorrow at the birthday party.

Headed for bed, I am very tired.

Have a good Tuesday.

Red Sweater Nearing Completion

Hustle, hustle... I've been spending every spare moment this weekend knitting on my granddaughter's Red Sweater. All that remains to be done is the body seam on one side, pick up and garter stitch the neck band and a garter lower band. Her birthday is Tuesday, I will complete it tomorrow and take a final picture. Maybe I can get a picture when she tries it on.

I'm really liking the fabric this combination of yarns has created. Knitting cuff to cuff has been an experience. For 'little' sweaters, I think it is a wise choice. Maybe next time I make her a sweater I will use Noro Kureyon.

The red cone yarn Yeoman Panama cotton/acrylic is paired with Plymouth Sockotta cotton/wool/nylon color 18 varigated yarn red, maroon, green blue, grape, navy all wrapped with a small white strand. This yarn was slated for a pair of socks for my husband.

I'm anxious to get back to my Kashmir, have a good Monday.

Traditional Fair Isle Knitting

Again, no knitting tonight (only 2 rows completed). I have been reading my new book by Sheila McGregor. It is packed with historical references, pictures, tips and Fair Isle border and peerie designs. Reading and studying about knitting is ALMOST as good as actually knitting.

I hope to steal a few minutes (or hours) this weekend to knit. This reminds me of a trip I took in 1980. My friend offered to take care of our son for a week so we could take advantage of a nice trip to Nassau, Bahamas. One stipulation was I take a real vacation and leave all craft hobbies at home. I took a fat book. There was no TV and we don't do much nightlife activity, so in the evenings, we sat in the hotel lobby, watched the European tourists and I read my book.... boring. I did enjoy my trip, but I missed my hobbies. This is one reason why my blog title is 'Have Needle.. Will Travel.' I never go anywhere without my knitting. You never know when you can knit a stitch.

Hope you have a nice weekend.

Without Knitting

You know, it's bad enough when you can't knit because you don't feel like it. BUT it's really bad when you don't have time to knit when you WANT to...

Maybe tomorrow evening.

Have a good day.
