Ran Out of Time

Knitted a lot this weekend. I'm glad it was a long one, there were too many errands to run and not enough dedicated knitting time. Today I KNIT and only one errand. We went the cemetery to see all the Veteran's Flags. One is flown for every veteran buried there. I forgot my camera, silly me. It is an awesome site to see all the flags; I always get a lump in my throat.

The assembly is complete on the first Gjende, the wine and very dark navy one. I have to knit about 6 more rows on the neck facing, fold and sew it in place. The body hem also needs sewing. I tried to get it done today. The sky and clouds would have made a nice backdrop for a picture. I promise a picture soon.

Green Gjende for my son is all but knitted. Three rows remain of the color work at the shoulder, assembly, hemming and neck knitting.

SIP

I completed one sock for my friend's daughter and will be turning the heel of the second one at lunch break Tuesday.

Weaving Ends

Thanks to Nanette for posting about weaving ends. I have never tried the duplicate stitch weaving she describes. It was a wonderful way to weave ends on Gjende. I'm hooked! I don't relish finishing items with lots of weaving; I didn't think I did a very good job. Now I'm proud of the finishing I have done on Gjende. I am really looking forward to finishing my St. Moritz and Green Gjende. I have a little Baby Norgi to complete also.

Did you have a good weekend? Short week ahead.

Weekend Cometh..

A little knitting today. A little TV today. A little surfing...

Look what I found:
spirit_of_the_southwest

This is Spirit of the Southwest from Fiber Trends. I've requested this from my LYS. Isn't it a beautiful shawl? Evelyn A. Clark is the designer. I like her patterns, I knit four (4) of the Pacific Northwest Shawls in cream.

I must be dreaming of lace..

Have a good weekend.

Girls Night Out

Spur of the moment, girls night out to dinner. It was short, relaxing dinner with my son's girlfriend. We had fun and enjoyed each other's company, the food was good, too.

I knit more on Gjende this evening, but have not started the neck shaping. The surf was calling me... I made the rounds of my blog list. Some really interesting knitting going on in blogland.

Looking forward to a three-day weekend.

Don't Blink! A Picture!

Don't fall out of your chair; here's a progress picture to share. Part of the horizontal repeat is shown.

About 4 more rows to knit, then I can begin the neck shaping and another narrow band of colorwork. The Sweater Assembly Pile will grow by another sweater. I'm going to stick to my resolve and NOT start another project before the assembly is complete. Secret: I have a pair of socks barely begun... I can knit on them on lunch break at work. Weaving ends should take some time and I'm anxious to try Nanette's weaving method.

Lace

Browsing through my new book A Gathering of Lace has been a pleasure. I want to make one of everthing, almost. Estonian Garden wrap will be first on the list from Fiber Trends.

Calm weather today, I miss the thunderstorms. Have a good day. Middle of the week already!

Thunder, Lightning, Wind, Rain and Hail

There were even some tornadoes in our area today. We just lost power a minute ago, better do a quick post while the modem is up again.

Had a late meeting this evening and then dinner out. The air was thick and sprinkles hit the windshield on the way home. Got some more knitting on Gjende during the meeting and after dinner. Only a few rows of the major color band remain.

The thunder is coming again, rolling in from the north. Yes, Grammy, the potatoes are falling off the wagon. I miss my grandma during storms. She loved them, too.

Have a good Tuesday.

Half a Snow Flake Again

Productive knitting weekend... I have worked the body of Gjende to the middle of the snow flake on the chest. This pattern is so pleasing and easy to knit.

I did absolutely NO assembly this weekend. I will NOT begin another project until I get the sweaters assembled. I promise.

Picked up this book, I've been wanting to add it to my growing library.

Monday's here... have a good day.

A Good Amount

I got about 3.5 inches more knit on Gjende body today. It seems this sweater body is growing slower than the other Gjende's body.

My mind is blank, I have no new ideas for what to knit next. Maybe something will pop into the void over the weekend. I'd like to knit a real Fair Isle. Should I order yarn for Marina? Oh, what to do? I could design a sweater, too.

Friday is the beginning of the weekend. Yipee!

More Rounds

Now the Gjende body total is about 6 inches plus the hem. Lice and more lice, good thing they aren't the parasite kind.

It's about time to start dreaming and planning for my next project AFTER assembly of three adult sweaters and one Baby Norgi. I always have socks working and I have a new shawl pattern and some lace yarn. I don't like the pattern I started knitting with the grey lace yarn, I think I will use this new pattern instead, Estonian Garden by Fiber Trends:

Rain

Kansas City area received about 9 inches of rain, less in some areas, in a short time span. There was quite a bit ot flooding around town. I couldn't stay home and enjoy the day, had to work to pay for yarn. Some of the routes were under water. You can imagine how crowded the interstate was. Good thing I grew up here and know all the alternate routes. We had sun and some really beautiful clouds today.

Hope your Thursday is a fine day for working and knitting and whatever else you want to do.

Gave UP

My husband gave up on the 'no air conditioning until June' wish. We shut the windows, checked the filters, cleaned the outside unit and turned it on. I hate to admit, but it is very comfortable knitting now that the air is less humid and cooler. The humidity does tend to make knitting sticky. We always try to hold off until we can't bear the weather before turning on the air. Still wish I lived farther north....

On the knitting front, a few more rows on my son's Gjende. The body is a slow-go, round and round and round.

Wednesday is here again, have a good day.

A Few More Rows

Worked on Gjende some and have the hem and half of the little two-color band completed. Lice ahead!

Have a good day, hope you have sufficient knitting time.
