Don't Fall Over..

I'm posting two days IN A ROW!! I know it's been a while since I've made/had time to post on two consecutive days.

I have a wonderful sister, her name is Wendy (she does not blog). We used to knit-race to see who could knit or purl faster. There has always been pride and love shared with our knitting accomplishments. So with that in mind, I must share two pictures she sent me today. My talented sister designs her own stitch patterns. This is a gansey front:

And here is a close up of the stitches. She is calling this sweater Marriage Lines and Diamonds.

My knitting, you ask?

Not much. I knit a couple rows on the pink tank. It will be a slow-go and be a comfort on the road. I am almost packed, need to choose the sock yarns from the stash to include in the TO GO Knitting Bag. We are leaving Friday. I may not have an opportunity to post from the road... I will be missing my blog knitter friends.

OK..OK, Pictures

I've been very lazy about posting and taking pictures of knitting. Truthfully, I have been preparing for vacation, packing and organizing and not spending much time knitting.

Here is proof there were two Faina's Scarves knit:

I have yet to cut and attach the fringe. Is there a way to keep this soft yarn fringe from splitting at the ends? I don't think a little knot at the end of each strand will be fun to do. Any ideas? I will block and fringe both scarves when I return from vacation.

Pink Tank

This is the beginning of the Victoria Tank from Interweave Knits Summer 2004. I admire the lace on this tank top. I will be knitting this in the van this weekend. Wonder how much I will get done on a two-week trip? I plan to take sock yarns, too.

Do the Hustle...

I hustled all evening... trying to complete the second Faina's Scarf. I wanted to take a picture for posting to prove I am knitting two of them. There are about 14 rows remaining on the second off-white scarf. It will be completed this weekend. I want to block the scarves before I attach the fringe.

Next Up

There's the pink Mississippi3 for my 'daughter-not-in-law' (son's girlfriend). An incomplete striped sock (remember this one?) and two (no, three) unseamed sweaters. Vacation is coming and I have chores to complete before we can leave town. I should not start anything difficult or involved. I want to knit on the pink tank in the car and take a couple of sock yarns. Maybe I won't knit next week.... don't know if I can handle that idea.

Questions in Comments

Faina's Scarf is not difficult, but not for true beginners. You must count as you knit every right-side row. The wrong side is purl after the first 5 stitches of seed stitch border. The decreases are handled differently to vary the slant. You must pay attention. I found I had to use my magnetic board and line markers to keep from losing my place in the pattern. Each knit row is similar. I have knit three of these scarves and have enjoyed making them. I would urge you to try knitting this scarf. It will keep your interest and be a challenge. If you make one, post a picture on your blog and/or email me a picture.

I hope your weekend full of knitting.

Not Much Knitting This Weekend

My camper and camera are home, finally. There were funny stories and lots of good news from camp. My husband really enjoys leading the camp for boys every summer. He has a very good volunteer crew and they always have a good time.

I have completed about 1/3 of the second scarf and swatched for a sweater for my son's girlfriend. Other than that we have been getting the details in line for vacation. Twelve days and counting....

Hope you had a nice weekend, it's getting hotter here.

Magic

My camera is at camp.... I've noticed that other bloggers scan their knitting. I tried it and it worked for me. I like my new scanner, it does a better job than my first one with pictures and documents.

I present Faina's Scarf for the Garden Lady, unblocked and unfringed.

I have begun the second scarf for my lunch buddy, about 1/5 of the rows are knitted.

Another Project

I bought some pink Mississippi3 for my son's girlfriend. She liked the Victoria Tank designed by Veronik Avery in Interweave Knits, Summer 2004. I tried to use the pattern stitch in the failed sock, see previous post for picture. I don't know how soon I will cast on for her sweater, I may save it for my vacation, in-the-car knitting.

It's Friday! Have a good day and an wonderful weekend.

Just a Little Bit

I completed a few rows on the Faina Scarf. When I showed my 'garden' friend, she was pleased. I started the third ball and I'm anticipating there will be enough yarn for fringe. I made my fuschia one without fringe, so this will be an interesting challenge.

Is it hump day already?

Headed Back to the Grind

It's been nice to have a three-day weekend. Sunday and Monday were lazy for me... I knit. A few other chores were crossed off the list, but KNITTING was the major theme for the weekend.

Before the digital camera went to camp with my husband, I took a quick shot of the unblocked but completed Estonian Garden wrap.

I hope to take a better picture when it is blocked and the ends are hidden.

Next Project

faina_scarf

I plan to knit two of these... I've gotten 2/3 of the first one completed. They are gifts for co-workers... one that makes me laugh at lunch and the other who supplies me with squash and onions. Both are good friends and I wanted to share my knitting with them.

Have a good, short week. I hope you have plenty of time to knit.

I Got It!!

My new pattern is in my hot little hand! I love the Spirit of the Southwest Shawl. I will keep a lookout for yarn to purchase. Stash enhancement ahead!

spirit_of_the_southwest

Fiber Trends has many nice patterns. I didn't get much knitting done today on Estonian Garden wrap. Too much other 'stuff' to do.

Monday is a holiday, I have a three-day weekend. Think I'll get much knitting done?? Hope you do.

One End Complete

I have completed one end of the Estonia Garden Wrap. It is really working out fine! Sorry, no pic yet.

Work Week

Wouldn't you know, the meeting Monday went smoothly... they will get back with me. Well, they did!! They backed down on some of the items they told me were set to go. I had to undo two days of work, but in the long run, it will save me about two weeks or so.

I'm still over-stressed on this project. This too, shall pass...

Camp Preparations

They are going as expected and normally do... three days behind and the future is looming.

Keep thinking: there is a light at the end of the tunnel; you just have to travel to the end.

Have a good rest of your week.
