Short Trip

to Sleeve Isle. I cast on at 9.30p on Thursday last and completed bindoff of second sleeve Tuesday about 10.20p. That is the fastest I have ever knit two adult sleeves. About one third of each sleeve is pure one-color stockinette. This is a size M sweater, three of the other Dales have been XL.

Sleeve cast on is 50 stitches.... I guarantee you will slow down on the body, cast on requirements is 250 stitches!

Here's proof.

The color is not true, overcast in the late afternoon (indoors) does not make for good pictures.

Hope you have a good rest of the week and all your trips to Sleeve Isle are successful.

Remember Me?

Hi, my name is Chery and I'm a knitter, an out-of-touch knitter. I have been knitting but not blogging.

The autumn leaves are finally in full color. After a week of drizzle and clouds, I enjoyed knitting and relaxing on our deck.

Completed But Not Delivered

Practice makes 'more perfect.' I have enjoyed knitting this sweater, it's the Dale of Norway from 104 #8, knit with Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport.

Next Sweater

I have knit one sleeve and half of the second sleeve of my new project. I chose the yarns while on vacation this summer for Thunder Bay for me. Brown Sheep Nature Spun Sport Deep Sean, Emerald Fantasy, Silver Sage and White.

Have a nice week.

Pictures

So, I'm going to make up for not posting pictures since Monday. Be prepared, there's lots.

This is the inside of one of the sleeves showing the woven ends on two-color knitting. I was not comfortable with weaving ends before I found Nanette. Her descriptions and pictures transformed my weaving. I need more practice, please don't send your pieces to be woven.

Sleeve from the right side, unblocked and not hemmed. Wonderfully dressy cuff for a sweater. The neck band will be similar.

The pattern panel is knit only on the front of this sweater. I have ends on both sides to weave. Do you see the little woven area? Makes a break in the strands on the wrong side.

For those who must look at the inside, here it is:

Do you think I can finish this sweater by Monday afternoon? There are two days and two evenings until then. AND, I have to work Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We'll see.

Check Nanette's blog for the little Stranded Color Knitting book she wrote.

Have I told you how much I love my camera? (Nikon D70)
Enough blue in these pictures? Have a good Thursday.

Done Dale Knitting

I have two sleeves and one body. The sweater is a pile of parts at this time. I will concentrate on weaving ends and then assembly. No pics of pieces, you'll have to until tomorrow's post.

My work project is on the skids again! Oh, how glad I will be when it is completed.

Hump day is here, have a good time.

Monday Night Football and Knitting

WOW! The more intense the football game, the faster I knit. I have less than 2 inches to knit on the second sleeve. Then the task of weaving ends at color changes and assembly. I'm excited about reaching the end of this project, as always. My mind is racing with new projects

Liz, I'm sorry for you the Chiefs won, but they were about due to win. It was a very good game. I get so wound up, leaning forward to cross the line for first downs.... intense.

Hope your Tuesday is full of knitting.

Getting There

Some progress on the second sleeve. I have begun the fun pattern at the top.

I also worked on Leslie's pink lace shell this weekend. It's difficult to carry a Dale sweater with pattern around while knitting on your feet in lines, shopping.

On Friday, I met my friend at the LYS for Sale Days! So much yarn, but my stash is large enough. Couldn't pass up this bargain, though.

Silky_wool_100104

I bought enough for two shawls. Don't you think this Silky Wool will make nice shawls? I haven't decided on patterns, yet. I think this yarn needs to marinate in my stash for a while.

There are too many projects with higher priority. I'm itching to start ThunderBay for myself, but I'm going to complete some WIPs first. We'll see how much willpower I have...

Have a good Monday. Go Chiefs!!

Second Verse

same as the first... I completed the first sleeve, cast on for the second. I knit the four-inch hem and first pattern panel. REMEMBER TO CHANGE NEEDLES right after increases. I hope to never forget that again. But I'm sure I will. I get to knitting and cannot stop to even pick up a different needle.

If you need to see a picture, look at the previous post. I'm too tired to take a picture. I've worked lots of extra hours this week.

Hope you have a happy, knitting weekend,
