Knitting Pictures

A_a_gillespie_sweaters

Couldn't sleep this morning, got up at 4 a.m. and finished these two sweaters.  The knitting was completed before we left home in August.  I sewed the shoulder seams, attached the buttons and wove ends.  The baby girls are due in November, I will mail them to our niece when we get home.

Unblocked Lace

Fir_cone_shawl_unblocked

Finished Fir Cone Shawl from Folk Shawls in July.  I thought I would have time to block it while visiting mom.  I just hasn't been convenient.  The only place to place the blocking boards is the deck.  Two little dogs have the run of the back yard and deck... not good for shawl blocking.

Feather_and_fan_unblocked

Started Feather and Fan from Gathering of Lace two weeks ago last Thursday.  Completed Friday morning and planned to block.  I calculated the amount of pins I need for each loop of the crocheted edge ... too many for the amount of pins I brought with me.  I'll block it when I get home.  This shawl was really fun to knit.  I used Zephyr and have enough remaining for another shawl.

Picture of Real Finished Object

Clapotis

Completed in March and pictured in September -- Clapotis.  This stole is made from wool and silk 50/50 in worsted weight.  I have forgotten the name of the yarn.  If I make this again, I will use lighter weight handpainted yarn.

Taos Wool Festival

We are heading to Taos on Thursday.  Will I see you at the festival?

Daytrippin'

We've been hanging out at my mom's.  Two weeks ago I started another shawl, Feather and Fan from Gathering of Lace.  It is almost complete.... only 12 long rows left before crocheted bindoff.  I'm knitting it in Blue Zephyr and it is so soft.

St. Elmo

My brother-in-law, the daytrip-guide-extraordinaire, took us to St. Elmo yesterday.  It is a ghost town near Mt. Antero.  The gold of the hills was absolutely beautiful.  We spent the day taking pictures and having fun.  I'm so glad to have a digital camera and not required to use film and developing before viewing pictures.

Wouldn't this be a fun jigsaw puzzle?

Waterfall_at_st_elmo

Waterfall, of course, I have to take a picture of water.

Stellar_jay

How do you like my new buddy?  He's a Stellar Jay.  He was hopping in this tree and I didn't think I would be able to get a good picture.  Of all the jays, he's my favorite.

Off to knit a while before bed, night.

Labor Day Weekend in Santa Fe

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend in Santa Fe.  The frybread was wonderful, of course.  I found roasted corn and from another vendor, posole.  That's three of my favorite foods in one day.

Now for the fiber:  found three yarn shops within walking distance of the Arts and Crafts Festival in downtown Santa Fe.  Oodles Beads and Yarn was on the west side and on the east was Needle's Eye and Miriam's Well.  I bought some brown Koigu for socks.  I'm holding out for yarn at Taos Wool Festival in October.

Shopping_native_american_silver

I always look forward to shopping at the Palace of the Govenors.  Native American jewelry and other items are unique.  When I can talk with the people who make the items, I feel connected to them and their fine pieces.  I have a weakness for earrings.  Yes I bought a pair this year.

Frybread and Fiber

We are now in Santa Fe.  The Arts and Crafts Festival is this weekend.  When I made our trip plans, I found a nice 55+ campground on the main bus line into downtown Santa Fe.  We will ride the bus to avoid paying for parking and getting dings on our car.

Tomorrow will be a high-carb day:  frybread!

Tomorrow will be a high-fiber day:  fiber and yarn!

It can't get much better than that, can it?

Socks

Brown_gift_socks

Brown gift socks made from Fortissima Colori.  Loved knitting with the yarn, don't care for the color variations.

Opal_handpaint_socks

Opal Handpaint socks for my husband.

Currently working on Bearfoot socks for my husband, Red Tail Hawk colorway.

More updates, later.

PS.  I'm having difficulties sending email.  I'm receiving emails ok.... just can't return them.  Sorry!
