Gjende Hat

There is now a hat for my son.  I used the Generic Norwegian Hat pattern and overlayed part of the Dale of Norway pattern Gjende 6021.  Chose yarns left over from the sweater knitting and began knitting yesterday afternoon.  Worked on it at Knit Night at the LYS and completed it this morning.  I was a quick knit.

When my son returns my call, I will try to get a picture of him wearing this hat.

Still no socks on the needles.  Must be a record for me.  I'm going to remedy that right now.  Later all. . .

Done

But it's still pink?!?!  Are you sure they are done?  Yep!

I love these socks.  They were a really quick and fun knit.  Koigu Kersti #K624, 2 skeins.

Brain Tease

I have another pair of gift socks to knit.  What color, what yarn?  Sometimes you just know what you want to knit for someone, sometimes you don't.  I think she'd like some nice, warm Bearfoot socks for her prairie walks.  She likes the Opal yarn sample I sent for another project.   Hmmmm... we'll see what I come up with for her socks.

Felting and Blocking

The sun is shining today and it's warm in our blocking (living) room.  I should probably get busy before evening, you think?

Sun!

Just as I was getting ready to leave the house to run an errand, the SUN came out!  So here are some pictures:

Opal Prisma stripes for my husband playing with my new Mountain Colors Bearfoot socks.

Thought you might like to see the knitting and colors closer.  Winter Sky on the left and Garnet on the right.  I love Bearfoot for a nice, warm sock.

I love this pink yarn.

Please ignore the little blip of yarn at the toe.  It is a marker left when I cast on to show the top or bottom of the sock.  It helps me to keep the toe increases even and every other row.

More knitting tonight!

Duck

Hmmmm.... duck weather outside.  It is foggy still by mid-afternoon.  Usually it clears by this time of day.  Good day for indoor laundry and knitting.

I am waiting for more light.  There are three pairs of socks waiting for their photo op.  Where's the sun?  I try like crazy to finish up some of the UFOs in my house and what do I do??  Start more socks.  I found some PINK yarn (Koigu Kersti) to make socks.  I'm at mid-foot right now.  Maybe they will be completed by the time the sun shines again.

Duck Under the Radar

I try to stay low and knit without KALs.  I'm not a real joiner, however, I sometimes am knitting what ever is the current 'band wagon' knit project.  I really would like to join the Knitting Olympics -- too many other obligations.  I have already started a commissioned sweater that would have been a good project, I need to keep knitting; and, I will be at my mom's during most of the Olympics.  I may or may not have time to knit.

Duck Memes

I try to lay low when it comes to memes, too.  Didn't make it this time, thanks friend.

Day Late

Yesterday was our son's birthday.  Due to germs and illness, we did not see him.  I could not wait another day, so we delivered his present today.

Gjende front:

Want to see the back?

He took it into the house and put it on for pictures right away.  I think he likes it!  Green is his favorite color.  The pattern is Dale of Norway Gjende and the yarn is Dale Falk.  Dale patterns are a joy to knit and I loved knitting this yarn.  He needs a matching hat, don't you think?

In Progress

Still working on Bearfoot socks and lavender pullover.  I wound three hanks of yarn and cast on the commissioned sweater this evening.

Keep on knitting . . .

Buzzed!

I have just completed the 5th Dale of Norway sweater.  It's been marinating for a few months.  Few?  Well, it is assembled and will be pictured when it is delivered.  Just a couple of days, I promise.

Bearfoot Socks

I finishing up the ribbing tonight.  I have more Bearfoot yarn waiting to be knit.  I'll start them as soon as these get off the needles.  Can't let those needles get cold.

Lavender Sweater

My yarn for the commissioned sweater has not arrived.  Slow shipping this time, I guess it was the holiday that slowed USPS.  So, the lavender sweater for my granddaughter will be next to jump in my lap.  One sleeve is at the cuff and the other is waiting for stitches to be picked up and knit.  I'm knitting a raglan from the top down.

Next. . .

I have some bottle green Zephyr for a shawl.  Can't decide on a pattern, any suggestions?

Have a good Monday.

Rodeo - Round Up

For the rodeo, here are the latest finished socks.  I bought Opal Rodeo last summer for my husband.  I love these socks and Opal is one of my very favorite yarns for socks.

Rodeo

I am currently knitting a pair of socks for myself from Bearfoot in Sierra colorway.  Pictures on a sunny day when they are complete.

Now for the Round Up. . .

I was surprised when I tallied my knitting for 2005.  I knit more socks than I thought I had -- 23 pair.  I knit 16 shawls, only one was a stole/scarf - Clapotis; three were full circle or square, all others were triangle.  In the miscellaneous category, 3 hats, 1 pair clogs, 1 scarf for an exchange, 2 BSJ for our twin nieces, 3 sockies for my brother and countless washcloths.  There are only 4 UFOs remaining from previous years.

This year, I hope to make a dent in my yarn stash.  I want to knit some Fair Isle and Dale of Norway sweaters.  When the USPS delivers my last yarn purchase, I will begin on the commissioned sweater for a friend.  Retirement is great!!

Maybe I could 'make' time to organize my photo albums on my blog, you think?
