Stash Yarn Use

I've been holding onto stash yarn for a while.  Remember when I bought some BFL in Oregon in July 2004?  I used two skeins for a pair of socks for me.  Now I have a pair of socks for my husband.  They are the same old sock pattern, just a little bigger than my socks.

Knit Picks New Needles

I thought I'd try the new Knit Picks Classic Circular Needles.  They were in my mail box yesterday.  When the BFL socks were done, I cast on my new Opal yarn to give the needles a try.  One point is a little too sharp or rough.  They knit like a dream.  The purple cable was very flexible right out of the wrapper.  No hot water required to un-kink them.  Having never been successful using build-a-needle kits, I am not too excited about buying Knit Picks Options set just to get larger needle sizes to use for lace.  I rarely use a needle larger than US6.  Maybe with some encouragement, KP will sell single circular needles in sizes larger than US3.

Do you hear my juvenile Red Tail Hawk?

He's out there in the far trees.  I enjoyed listening to him call and call this morning.

Back to knitting my new socks.  More projects working in the think tank. . .

Socks and More Socks

Yes, I have been knitting -- not posting.  Been making the Bloglines rounds, too.

The upper socks are Opal Zebra.  My friend, Cathy, gave me the skein in March.  I'm just getting around to knitting them.  I love Opal yarn.

The lower socks were knit with Regia plus Cotton Jacquard Color #5274.  I love the feel of these cotton socks.

I am also knitting some commissioned socks, working on the third pair.  I cannot show you those socks.

Knitting project planning is going on here, too.

Socks and Cactus

These socks are Regia Cotton. stockinette using my favorite pattern.  Remember, I had to hurry and get them off the needles so I could begin the Opal socks.  I sewed the picot hem and blocked these yesterday.

Opal Mosaik

I have two fair-sized balls remaining.  I think I know what I will use it for -- stay tuned.

Full Blooms

It's about done blooming.  The wilted flowers don't look to attractive when I photograph them.  I was hoping I would be home for the short blooming time for my prickly pear.  I'd like to find the prickly pear that has red blooms.  Anyone have any?  We could swap a cutting, if you're interested.

More Yellow

I told you there'd be more blooms.

Wow!  My dad would have loved these pictures.  Wendy, make sure Mom sees these.

Knitting Socks

I have turned the heels and knitted half of the cuff on the Mosaik Opal socks.  This Opal yarn seems to be thinner than newer Opal, like Rodeo.  The fabric is nice and firm.

Should I block some shawls today?

Prickly Pear and Socks

Prickly_pear

It's that time of year again.  My favorite cactus (in my yard)!  There will be a lot more blooms, the plant is about four times larger than last year.  He resides next to the lower door off the driveway.  I think he should be relocated; if he gets much bigger, I will have to cut him back.  He bites, if you get too close.

Sock Knitting

Since the summer knitting night break is in effect, I met with my friend Friday for knitting meetup.  She brought me a skein of Opal Mosaik in red and white.  Of course, I had to knit furiously on my cotton socks to free up the needles.  I cast on for these yesterday afternoon.

No lace blocking has been done. . .
