Knitting Along in the Heat
Summer is here in Kansas City! HOT!! I'm so glad we have air conditioning. Knitting wool would not be too comfortable outside. In the morning, it's cool on the patio. We wait for the hummers to join us.
Loved the Turquoise Socks
So, to keep my husband from stealing my socks, we bought some additional Opal for him. These colors are pretty true, the light was good for pictures this morning.
My socks were knit with my usual pattern on US1 circulars. This time, I added picot edge and knitted it in by picking up purl bumps with the stitch and cast off loosely. I used the Knit Picks needles, I like them. I may begin to supplement my needle collection with these, as needed.
Planned Project
As previously reported, I have been in the planning stages for a new project. I cannot knit only socks forever, the drawers runneth over. I ordered some Dale of Norway Tuir from Pieces of String in color #2343 (dark tan) to complement #5664 (navy) leftover from my Kashmir. Won't those colors look nice for Meg Swansen's Mimbres Vest?
My Garden
What there is of it... my garden is wild and I only have a few plants. I do NOT dig in the dirt nor weed. I like all flowers, even it they are considered weeds. Too bad we live in an area that requires well-kept lawns.
This plant grows freely under my deck and in any crevice it finds. I'm sorry, I don't remember the name, it is a Japanese flower/plant. The flowers last one day and bloom in the morning. Most of our plants are under the east deck. The flowers are sparse but bright from June until fall. The flower is tiny, no larger than a well-trimmed thumbnail.
Back to knitting and getting ready for our family picnic. Have a good weekend.
