I have a wonderful friend. She has given me several different sock yarns to knit. These are the socks I knit for myself from the last yarn she gave me.
The yarn is Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Black Purl. I used my same old pattern with an added picot hem at the top. They are knee high, I knit them with the 2 skeins (200 yds ea) with very little yarn left over. Can you say WARM?
Thank you D, for the yarn.
Socks for the guy... he picked the color. They are so bright and beautiful. I'd like to knit another pair of socks using the bright colored yarn with a darker background color in a two-color pattern. Someday...
And they match!
I knit these with Lang JaWoll #132.0199. It is wonderful yarn and really a joy to knit. I use a very loose bindoff at the cuff, that's why they look a little ruffled. My husband will wear bright colors or even pink or orange; however, I think he'd balk at the ruffles. . .
Finished these Trekking XXL 158 socks last evening. Blocked them today. AND guess what? There was bright sunshine for pictures!
I love Trekking sock yarn. It makes wonderful, comfortable socks. However, there always is a color discrepancy. I know that they do not match most of the time, there is only one small problem this time. The color sequence on the foot of the bottom sock has two groups of orange in a row. Otherwise, these socks would have matched completely.
I love the colors in these socks.
Thought I'd change the look of my blog. Do you like it? Think it might entice me to post more often?? I hope so. I should either put up or shut up and delete this blog.
I have no pictures to post today. Socks and lace are all that I have knitted lately. My husband is waiting for his new re-knit sweater. I'm re-knitting an old sweater originally knit BC (before child). It is a fitted ski-type sweater knit flat. I am knitting it in the round with better yarns, this time. More details when I get it completed.
Have a good weekend.
Last night while watching Monday Night Football I completed these socks, including weaving the ends.
The yarn for this pair is from Hand Painted Knitting Yarns (HPKY) 65% superwash wool 25% nylon 10% donegal; 463 yards 3.5 oz. I used my pattern, in stockinette until halfway up the leg, switched to K3 P1 for a while, then K2 P2 rib to the top of the cuff.
The color is 'Parsifal' and are pretty true in this picture. They were fun to knit, the yarn was soft. I can't wait to wear them, probably tomorrow.
Finished This Pair
Also, last night, I did the weaving on these socks I knit last week.
Trekking XXL in color 80. I resigned myself to 'not match' these socks. They will be warm and cozy.
Off to split and wind some more sock yarns.
Sorry I haven't posted in a long, long while. I have toyed with the idea of dropping blogging all together. It seems I don't have much to say.
I have been knitting and gifting since we last met on the blog. There was lots of commercial sock yarns in the stash, they have since been knitted up and worn. Then I fell off the 'not buying any commercial sock yarn' wagon. Some special yarn was gifted to me, some was found at non-LYStores. I have frogged two shawls after finding dropped stitches during blocking, re-knitting one; the other waits.
Yarn is ordered for Anne's Irtfa'a Faroese Lace Shawl. Can't wait for it to arrive. I'll be knitting more lace this winter.
No pictures this time. Keep those fingers warm by knitting.
Almost FOUR YEARS in the making... I completed knitting the pieces of this sweater right before my first post to this blog in July 2003. I had real fears it would not fit my husband. I blocked the pieces last fall, hoping to assemble and present the sweater by Christmas. Didn't happen. Finally for a birthday present, on time April 30th, but way way late.
This pocket was a wonderful experience. I used kitchener bind off to finish the pocket ribbing. I love this bind off. Sweater details in 2007 Photo Album.
Socks
Seems I cannot have a post without socks. Both of these are knit with Regia, blue ones for my husband, multi-color ones are for me.
These are Trekking XXL, white ones for me and pink ones for a special little girl. I love the white yarn, it is soft.
Well, off here to work on some more -- wait for it --
-- socks! How'd you guess?
I was invited to share lunch and a garden visit with a dear friend. We had a wonderful afternoon, there was good food and a great dessert. I rained in the garden and I enjoyed taking pictures. This is my favorite.
Knitting
I enjoyed knitting these socks with Austermann Step, color 10. I did not get them to match, OH WELL, I just kept knitting. This is great yarn.
I love the colors, too.
Mom, I counted the socks in my drawer -- 38. I haven't counted Marvin's or tallied the gifted socks.
